It's uniquely named after the Maitreya Buddha, thanks to a temple that once stood on a nearby mountain. Fun fact: it's the only city in China named after a Buddha! Mile is also a bustling hub for sugar and tobacco production in Yunnan. Yunnan is a treasure trove of stunning mountains, serene lakes, and winding rivers, not to mention its rich cultural heritage. Since the late '90s, tourism has really taken off here. One of the highlights is the charming old town of Lijiang, where you can experience a delightful blend of different cultural traditions.
