My Beaucaire

France
Serviced Apartment

Situated in the center of the "Golden Triangle" of Nîmes, Avignon and Arles in the south of France, the ancient town of Beaucaire (From "Bel Caire" - Beautiful Stone in Provençal) provides the perfect base for exploring Provence and the Camargue and basing yourself in one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of southern France. It is close to 3 TGV stations (2.5 hours to Paris), Nimes airport (Ryanair to London and Morocco) and 1 hour from the Marseille international airport. Beaucaire prides itself on being at the crossroads, "entre le roseau and l'olivier" - between the reeds of Camargue and the olives of Provence. Its location has made it an important settlement since Roman times and the site of many a bloody conflict. Dominated by the ruins of a magnificent castle high on a rock and bounded by the Rhône on one side and the Canal Du Rhône à Sete on another, the town used to be a magnet for traders from all over Europe, who came for its renowned annual fair. Today, it remains largely untouched by time and below the tourist radar, a chance to enjoy a genuine taste of French provincial life. This lovely renovated vacation rental apartment opens on to a large terrace that faces the Rhône river, across the river from the town of Tarascon in Provence. The handsome stone building was originally a rich merchant's mansion, named Hôtel du Luxembourg. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, sleeps four: Two bedrooms (one double bed, two singles), a large open plan living room/kitchen/dining area, Roku streaming,, French cable TV and reliable WIFI. Stay in this sunny 2 bedroom apartment opening on to the terrace with view of Tarascon and the Rhône. Wake up to abundant Provence sunlight. Drink coffee on the huge terrace just outside your door. It is within walking distance of the town's attractions, from the picturesque ruined castle to the lively canal promenade, as well as restaurants, cafés and shops. The American owners, COVID refugees from New York City, live in the apartment next door.
