Burgas Bay, Bulgaria

Description

The city of Burgas is the administrative center of the largest tourist region in Bulgaria as it is located on the Southern Black Sea coast. Burgas is one of the fastest developing cities in Bulgaria. Its geostrategic location makes it one of the country’s most important economic centers, as well as a developing tourist destination. The city is a natural commercial and transport hub – an important gate to the continent. Burgas International Airport handles more than 2.8 million passengers annually and the port is among the most favorable on the Black Sea coast. Walking down Burgas city center feels like stepping into the past – a car-free pedestrian area with the low-rise buildings in the Neoclassical and Rococo style of another time. However, the stroll between bohemian cafes is a walk along with one of the most high-tech public spaces in Europe. The old-style streetlamps with round tabletops offer ports for charging computers, mobiles, cameras, electric bikes, and wheelchairs, and also emit free Wi-Fi covering the area.

Burgas Coliving

Bulgaria
Coliving

Since 2002 we have been owners of a great property located in "Mineral springs of Burgas" - satellite settlement, 15 km away from the city centre. The Burgas Mineral Springs is one of the most ancient Bulgarian balneotherapy resorts, dating for more than 2500 years. This big balneotherapy centre has been prosperous for centuries under the name Aqua Calidae, and later Thermopolis, visited by patients from all over the Roman and later Ottoman empire, convinced in the healing power of the water. Our property was created during communism in 1954 near the old bath. Consist of 2 buildings and about 8000sq.m. park area it purpose was to heal and to provide a salutary rest for communist workers using mineral water. During the 90’s the property was closed and started to destroy. We have wondered what can we do with it. It couldn’t be just a guest house or ordinary hotel. However, this place has been used to gather people for thousands of years, to heal them, to pull together and build a community must be something different, something significant, something worthy of it. Two years ago our place finally told us what it supposes to be…. Now after long reconstruction work, we have one sunny building with 8 double bedrooms, 5 single bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, 2 coworking spaces and a private call room. Because we know that the most important places in coliving are the common spaces, we create more than 200sq.m. for gaming, cooking, partying, skill-sharing, relaxing and everything that we want and need.
